Luke 11:1–4The disciples ask Jesus to teach them to pray.

Aspect

The Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6 (Matthew 6:5–13)

Meaning

The Lord’s model prayer reveals the divine life of communion with the Father — leading believers to sanctify His name, seek His kingdom, and align with His will, while depending on His daily supply and forgiveness.

Reason

Because people tend to pray for show or human approval, the Lord teaches us to pray in secret, turning wholly to the Father.

Features

Simple, sincere, God-centered, non-repetitious, kingdom-oriented.

Explanation

Prayer is not a performance but intimate fellowship between God’s children and the Father; the Lord’s Prayer serves as a pattern of heavenly life.

Structure of Content

(1) Addressing the Father (Matt. 6:9)
(2) Hallowing His name (6:9)
(3) Praying for His kingdom to come (6:10)
(4) For His will to be done on earth as in heaven (6:10)
(5) Asking for daily bread (6:11)
(6) Asking for forgiveness (6:12)
(7) Asking for deliverance from temptation and the evil one (6:13)

1 Thessalonians 5:17Pray without ceasing.

Application

Seek the Father’s will in prayer, live for His name and kingdom, and pray not for outward righteousness but for inward fellowship.

Burden

To guide believers from human, outward prayers into spiritual, secret prayer that glorifies the Father.

Prophetic Guidance

Prayer is the practical cooperation with God for His kingdom to come and His will to be accomplished on earth.

Conclusion

True prayer is living before the Father, allowing His desire to be realized in us.

Core Summary

The Lord’s Prayer reveals the direction of divine life beginning from God, living for God, and ending in God — that His kingdom and will might be manifested on earth.
