The Reality of the Body of Christ: A Corporate Living vs. A Mingled Living

Philippians 3:10 To know Christ, and of the power of his resurrection and of his sufferings, conformed to his death.

1 Corinthians 6:17 But whoever is united with the Lord becomes one spirit with him.

Romans 12:4 Just as in one body there are many members, but not all members have the same function;

Romans 12:5 So also we, so many, are one body in Christ, and each one member of one another.

Ephesians 4:15 But by holding fast to truth in love we grow in all things into him, who is the head, in Christ;

Ephesians 4:16 Through him the whole body, joined together and united by every richly supplied joint and by every part having its measured function, grows so that it may build itself up in love.

Speaking Points

Opening

God's economy is not merely to produce individual spirituality but to gain the reality of the Body of Christ.

Point 1

The Body life is a corporate living conformed to Christ's death through the power of His resurrection.

Point 2

The Body life is also a continual mingled living of God and man in the life-giving Spirit.

Point 3

Outwardly we bear the cross; inwardly we live by resurrection. Outwardly there is the Body; inwardly there is the mingling.

Point 4

The reality of the Body produces today's Zion and will consummate in the New Jerusalem.

Conclusion

To live the mingled life today is to taste in advance the life of the New Jerusalem.

Ultimate Conclusion

The reality of the Body of Christ is not merely a corporate living but, even more profoundly, a continual mingled living. The corporate living reveals the outward expression of believers living together in resurrection, conformed to Christ's death. The mingled living reveals the inward reality of the regenerated, transformed, and glorified tripartite God-men being continually united and mingled with the processed and consummated Triune God through Christ as the life-giving Spirit.

The cross conforms us to Christ's death, resurrection supplies the divine life, and the Spirit continually mingles God with man to build up the Body of Christ. This reality is manifested today in the local churches as Zion, the highest peak of the Lord's recovery, and will be eternally consummated in the New Jerusalem—the ultimate corporate expression of the processed Triune God mingled with His redeemed, transformed, and glorified people for eternity.
