Why Does the Bible Mention “Ministering Life to Others” Only in 1 John 5:16?

1 John 5:14 This is the confidence with which we approach him: that he hears us if we ask anything according to his will.

1 John 5:15 If we know that he hears us when we ask, we know that we have what we asked of him.

1 John 5:16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray for him and give him his life—even for those who commit sins that do not lead to death. But I do not say that one should pray for sins that lead to death.

Reason	First John especially emphasizes the fellowship of the divine life. In chapter 5, this life is revealed not only for personal enjoyment, but also for supplying other members of the Body of Christ.
Nature of Life Supply	To supply life is to dispense life. The believer himself is not the source; God dispenses life through one who is united with Him.
Spiritual Background	In the church life, believers are members one of another. When a member becomes weak or falls into sin, death operates within him and he needs life supply from other members.
Illustration 1: Blood Circulation	The Body of Christ is like a human body. Divine life flows like blood circulation from healthy members to weak members.
Illustration 2: Vine and Branches	As branches abiding in the vine receive the life flow, they may also minister this life to others. — Gospel of John 15:4–5

Why Not a General Command?	Because this requires spiritual maturity, deep fellowship, and union with the Lord; natural zeal cannot dispense divine life.
Remedy 1: Abide in the Lord	One must first abide in Christ before supplying life to others. — Gospel of John 15:7
Remedy 2: Maintain Fellowship	A pure conscience and continuous fellowship allow life to flow freely.
Remedy 3: Deal with the Self	The stronger the self, the more blocked the life flow becomes.
Remedy 4: Learn Intercession	Real life supply often comes through hidden intercession rather than outward correction.
Remedy 5: Have the Overflow of Life	One must first be filled inwardly before having a surplus to supply others.
Spiritual Relationship	Abiding in the Lord produces fellowship; fellowship produces prayer according to God’s will; such prayer dispenses life and overcomes death.
Spiritual Sequence	Abiding in Christ → Living in fellowship → Knowing God’s will → Interceding → Becoming a channel → Ministering life.
Biblical Example 1: Moses	Moses interceded for Israel before God so that the people might live. — Book of Exodus 32:11–14

Practical Application	1.          When seeing a weak brother, first pray instead of criticizing. 2.          In meetings, seek to minister life, not merely doctrines. 3.          In service, become a channel of life instead of displaying natural ability. 4.          When the church atmosphere becomes spiritually dead, life-imparting intercession is needed. 5.          The greatest help believers can receive is not knowledge but the supply of life.
Burden	God desires to gain believers who can minister His life into others.
Prophetic Speaking Guidance	Genuine prophesying is not merely speaking doctrines but supplying divine life into others through union with the Lord.
Spiritual Warning	Service outside the fellowship of life may impart pressure, condemnation, and death instead of life.
Central Revelation	1 John 5:16 reveals the highest form of intercession: allowing God’s life to flow into others through one who is one with Him.
One-Sentence Summary	“True intercession not only brings man’s need to God, but also brings God’s life into man.”
Conclusion	The Bible mentions “giving life” explicitly only in 1 John 5:16 because it unveils the deepest experience of the divine fellowship: a believer abiding in the Lord becomes a channel for the dispensing of divine life into other members of the Body.
