How Christians Function as God’s Representatives, Acting as Deputized God

Exo. 7:1: “The LORD said to Moses, ‘See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.’”
Exo. 3:16-18: “Go and gather the elders of Israel… and you shall go to the king of Egypt…”
Exo. 5:1: “Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘Let My people go…’”

Aspect

How Christians Function as God’s Representatives, Acting as Deputized God

Meaning

Christians, in life, nature, expression, and function, become one with God to live out and express Him. They represent God to shepherd and supply people, acting as deputized God to bring God’s will, attributes, and life to others.

Reason

1. God’s economy is to dispense Himself into man so that man and God may be one (John 17:21).
2. Only those who live God can shepherd “according to God” (1 Pet. 5:2).
3. God desires to have a representative on earth to execute His will (Exo. 7:1; 1 Sam. 1:11).

Method

1. Be one with God’s heart (1 Sam. 2:35).
2. Be constituted with God’s life and nature (2 Pet. 1:4).
3. Express God in His attributes—love, light, righteousness, and holiness.
4. Speak words of grace, truth, Spirit, and life to supply God to others (John 1:14; 6:63).
5. Shepherd according to God’s being, nature, and glory, not according to personal preference.

Function

1. Represent God to carry out His will (Moses—Exo. 7:1).
2. Act as deputized God to accomplish all that is in God’s heart (Samuel—1 Sam. 2:35).
3. Live as a man of God, manifesting God among people (Elisha—2 Kings 4:9).
4. Shepherd, build up, and supply God’s flock (1 Pet. 5:2).

Examples

- Moses: Made as God before Pharaoh to execute His will (Exo. 7:1).
- Samuel: One with God’s heart, carrying out His desires (1 Sam. 2:35; 8:22).
- Elisha: Walked as a man of God, expressing Him (2 Kings 4:9).
- Believers: In Christ, can be God’s duplication to supply Him to others (1 Tim. 6:11).

Application

1. In shepherding and service, learn to act according to God, not self (1 Pet. 5:2).
2. Enjoy the Triune God as life so His element constitutes us to express Him.
3. Live in the principle of being one with God, representing Him to fulfill His economy.
4. In family, workplace, and church, act as God’s representatives to supply and bring God to people.

Related Scriptures

- 1 Sam. 2:35: “I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest, who will do according to what is in My heart and in My mind…”
- 1 Sam. 7:3: “Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel… direct your heart to the LORD…”
- 1 Sam. 8:22: “The LORD said to Samuel, ‘Listen to their voice and appoint a king…’”

Conclusion:

To function as God’s representatives, believers must be one with Him in life and nature, constituted with His attributes, and live out His heart’s desire. Thus, they can shepherd “according to God,” supply others with God Himself, and fulfill His economy on earth.
