Equation of
Mass-Energy (E = mc²) vs. The Mass and Energy of Faith
Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the assurance of
things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Hebrews 12:2: “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.”
1 John 5:4: “This is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”
Item |
Mass-Energy Equation (E=mc²) |
Mass and Energy of Faith (Biblical View) |
Meaning |
Mass can be
transformed into energy; mass and energy are equivalent, a foundational
formula of physics. |
Faith is a
spiritual “substantializing” ability that makes unseen things real; the
quality and quantity of faith determine the release of spiritual energy (Heb. 11:1). |
Characteristic |
Source of
nuclear energy, solar energy, revealing the immense energy hidden in matter. |
Faith is the
“sixth sense,” just as eyes see and ears hear; faith sees spiritual reality
and brings life and power (2 Cor. 4:13). |
Distinction |
Physical,
measurable, related to the natural universe, functioning in time and space. |
Spiritual
mass-energy, beyond time and space; functions in unseen eternal reality (2 Cor. 4:18; Rom.
8:24–25). |
Explanation |
Even a small
amount of mass (m) can be transformed into immense energy
(E). |
The quality of
faith is the same for all, but the measure depends on how much we contact
God; as faith grows, great spiritual power is released (Rom. 12:3). |
Example |
Nuclear
reactions: a small amount of matter produces vast energy; the sun radiates
light and heat. |
Abraham
believed and received the promise (Heb. 11:11–12); Moses endured
as seeing the invisible One (Heb. 11:27). |
Application |
Drives science,
technology, and energy development; can also become destructive (atomic bomb). |
Christians live
by unseen realities; faith enables us to run the heavenly race, overcome the
world and the enemy, and even witness through martyrdom (1 John 5:4; Acts 20:24). |
Related Scriptures |
- Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the
assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” |
Key
Points:
- E=mc² shows energy transformation in the physical realm.
- Faith’s
“mass-energy” shows transformation in the spiritual realm:
faith makes the unseen become reality.
- The
quality of faith is the same, but the measure differs
depending on our contact with God.
- Faith
releases spiritual energy that brings victory, divine supply,
and even empowers martyrdom for God’s economy.
Conclusion:
The mass-energy
equation reveals the hidden energy in matter,
while the faith
equation reveals the hidden power of God
within believers. Faith transforms invisible
realities into experience, supplying us to run the heavenly race, overcome the
world, and fulfill God’s eternal purpose.
