Extension of the Word |
Increase of Christ |
Spread of God's Kingdom |
Meaning |
Refers to the growth of God's word as a seed of life in human
hearts, which is a process of life |
Refers to Christ being reproduced, multiplied, and spread among
believers, causing the Body of Christ to grow in both quantity and quality |
Refers to the expansion of God's domain of authority on earth,
manifested through the growth of divine life and the increase of believers |
Distinction |
Focuses on the internal growth of life and the expansion of truth |
Focuses on the external increase in numbers and the expression of
Christ's life |
Focuses on the establishment and expansion of God's authority and
sovereignty on earth |
Examples |
• Acts 6:7: "And the word of God increased" • Acts 12:24: "But the word of God grew and multiplied" • Acts 19:20: "So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed" |

local churches • Nurturing
believers to become members of Christ's Body |
•
Establishing the reality of God's authority in believers' lives •
Expanding the realm of God's reign • Bringing
all peoples under Christ's lordship |
Interrelationship |
The extension
of the word is the foundation and pathway for Christ's increase; when God's
word takes root in people's hearts, it produces the growth of Christ |
The increase of
Christ is the result of the extension of the word; the increase in numbers
and the improvement in life quality both originate from the work of God's
word |
The spread of
God's kingdom is the ultimate goal and manifestation of the extension of the
word and the increase of Christ; God's kingdom grows out of God's life as
Christ increases |

Summary
and Deeper Understanding:
The extension of the word, the increase of Christ, and the spread of God's kingdom represent three complementary
aspects of God's work on earth. These three
form a complete process: God's word grows like a seed sown in human hearts,
which brings about Christ's increase in both number
and life quality, ultimately realizing the
expansion of God's kingdom on earth. This entire
process ultimately leads to the full realization described in Revelation:
"The kingdoms of this world have become the
kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ" (Rev. 11:15).
In God's New Testament economy, this threefold extension, increase, and spread is for:
1.
Producing many sons of God
2.
Constituting the Body of Christ
3.
Completing God's eternal plan
4.
Fulfilling God's eternal purpose
5.
Establishing God's kingdom as the realm of His reign
The book of Acts portrays this ongoing work,
while the subsequent epistles and Revelation reveal
its full development, until it ultimately finds eternal expression in the New
Jerusalem, becoming God's eternal kingdom and the realm where divine life
reigns forever.
