Meaning |
Children of
God, born of Him, possessing His life and nature, belonging to His kind |
1 John 3:1 "Behold what manner of love the Father
has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! And we are!" |
The church as
the corporate new man, created by Christ on the cross to express and
represent God |
Genesis 1:26 "Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our
image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion…'" |
Difference |
Individual
level: Each believer is born again by faith in Christ and becomes a God-man |
John 1:12-13 "But as many as received Him, to them He
gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
who were born, not of blood… but of God." |
Corporate
level: The believers together form the church as the new man |
Ephesians 2:15 "Having abolished in His flesh the
enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus
making peace." |
Examples |
The
transformation of Peter, Paul, and other apostles from natural men to
spiritual men |
2 Peter 1:4 "By which have been given to us
exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be
partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is
in the world through lust." |
The church as
the Body of Christ, living out Christ as God's testimony on earth |
Colossians 3:10-11 "And have put on the new man who is
renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him…
where there is neither Greek nor Jew… but Christ is
all and in all." |
Application |

pursue sanctification, imitate Christ, and live out the divine life |
Ephesians 5:1 "Therefore be imitators of God as dear
children." |
Believers live
in the church life in oneness, building up one another as the new man |
Ephesians 4:24 "And that you put on the new man which
was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness." |
Interrelation |
Individual
God-men constitute the corporate new man |
Matthew 5:48 "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as
your Father in heaven is perfect." |
The new man is
formed by many God-men to fulfill God’s purpose |
Ephesians 6:10-11 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the
Lord and in the power of His might… Put on the whole armor of God…" |
Conclusion:
The greatest miracle in the
universe is that sinful human beings can be
born of God and become His children (God-men).
However, God's ultimate purpose is not just individual transformation but a corporate expression.
This is fulfilled in the greatest sign in the
universe—the new man, the church as Christ’s Body, expressing and representing God in His kingdom. Every
believer as a God-man contributes to the formation of the new man, who will fully manifest God's image and authority.
