Functions and Effects of the Spirit

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

John 7:39 But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.

Aspect	Functions and Effects of the Spirit
Meaning	The Spirit is the realization and reality of the resurrected Christ,  enabling Christ to be with believers and dwell within them
Functions	1. Indwelling believers 2. Giving life 3. Guiding believers 4. Uniting with believers
Effects	1. Renewing the life of believers 2. Enabling believers to understand the truth 3. Equipping believers for service 4. Producing the fruit of the Spirit 5. Manifesting the life of Christ
Explanation	Christ, through death and resurrection, transformed from the form of flesh to the form of Spirit, enabling Him to enter into believers and become their life and everything
Examples	1. Christ breathed into the disciples like breath 2. Christ flows out of believers like rivers of living water 3. Christ dwells in disciples as the Comforter
Applications	1. Believers can experience the reality of Christ's indwelling 2. Believers can establish an intimate relationship with Christ 3. Believers can be filled with Christ and express Christ 4. Believers can carry out Christ's mission
